Blackburn with Darwen Community Fund

Please note: we are holding a Community Fund Workshop here at the Boulevard Centre on Wednesday 23rd August between 10am & 12 noon. If you’re interested, please feel free to come along on the day.

This small grants fund is being run by Community CVS on behalf of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and the Brian Mercer Charitable Trust as part of the Your Community Your Call campaign, which focuses on getting communities to volunteer and develop solutions that make a difference within their local neighbourhoods.

The fund is only open to local charities, social enterprises, voluntary or community groups (i.e. not for profit organisations) and the group must not directly employ any paid members of staff.  The group must be run by volunteers and use volunteers to deliver its activities.  The project must benefit Blackburn with Darwen residents.

The criteria and weight we will use to assess your application will be:-

  1. Activities that help to make improvements to your neighbourhood (25%)
  2. Activities that combat social isolation and bring the community together (25%)
  3. Activities that involve volunteers in the delivery & develop the skills of those volunteers (25%)
  4. Activities that demonstrate significant Community Impact (25%)

Groups may apply for £500 funding to run the proposed activities and/or £500 to purchase equipment to help your group deliver its activities.

Activities can include community clean ups, projects that improve the environment, activities for young people, social activities for older people, activities that bring people together and builds community spirit, arts, crafts, sports, activities to help people with particular disabilities or health conditions, activities that get people to try something new or develop a skill, activities that get people more active in the community, activities to get people to understand their neighbourhood or community better, etc.

This list is not exhaustive or exclusive – it is just to try and get you thinking about what you may want to apply for. If you have any questions or queries regarding completing this form please contact CVS on 01254 583957 or email at office@communitycvs.org.uk

Completed applications must be returned by 12.00 noon on Monday 04th September 2017. Late applications will not be accepted.  There will be a second funding round in January/February 2018.
