We are looking for dedicated volunteers who can give a few hours a week to support people from Asylum Seeking backgrounds to access volunteer roles who would otherwise struggle to do so.
We’re offering volunteer managers in Preston an opportunity to gain a wide range of necessary skills, with the chance to gain our Valuing Volunteers Quality Mark.
The training takes place over three sessions, with the next coming up on Tuesday 8th April, Tuesday 29th April and Tuesday 27th May.
Subsequent dates are: Tuesday 17th June, Tuesday 24th June & Tuesday 15th July; and Tuesday 21st October, Tuesday 18th November and Tuesday 25th November.
Our Step into Volunteering learning sessions are designed to help people who are interested in volunteering find out a little about what to expect and build your confidence, to give you the best start to your volunteering journey.
The next tranche takes place over three days: Monday 24th March; Tuesday 25th March; Tuesday 1st April (these three at Preston Town Hall).; Monday 21st July; and Tuesday 7th October.
Want to get into volunteering? We’re offering appointment-based volunteer brokerage at our base at 46 Glovers Court every Tuesday, Wednesday between 10am and 4pm, and Thursday from 12 noon to 4pm. In addition to these opportunities to get involved, Preston Volunteers are out and about in the community, helping people start there volunteering journey throughout the week. Here is our schedule: –
- FEDCAP – Every Wednesday 1pm – 3pm
- Preston Gateway Job Centre – Every Thursday 10am – 12:30pm
- We will also be at Red Rose Recovery on the first Friday of the month
We will give you the chance to give help where it is most needed and make a real difference in our community.
The time you give as a volunteer will support you in your own life too: building your skills and experience and boosting your well-being. We offer free training to get you ready for volunteering.
There are so many ways to help, ranging from driving to deliver food to local food banks, using your computer skills to help community groups and charities with websites and social media, working with youth groups and cadets, to spending time outdoors helping to grow vegetables in community gardens.

Our meetings are friendly, informal and open to anyone who supports volunteers, so why not book and come along?
