Mohammed Kathrada of Community CVS was invited along to the Curry Club, based at Little Harwood Community Centre, earlier this week to volunteer and share experience in preparing a nutrient-rich, fresh, warm meal for the community.

He said: “Today I got the taste of how a meat biryani is prepared including side dishes, had the opportunity to chat to dedicated volunteers and information sharing about CVS.”

Rabia (pictured) and Khadijah, Curry Club lead volunteers said: “Our curry club has been running for many years with the help of local elderly female residents simply coming together and prepare meals on a Monday morning until noon, we eat together as well as share any life concerns, worries and provide support. We are like family here, our Curry club doors are open to male and female residents to come in and enjoy a warm meal from 12pm until 1pm.”

Rabia is a team lead for the project whilst Khadijah Assist with budgeting and orders.

Curry club operates on Mondays between 8am and 2pm.

For the first three hours, the volunteers meet and greet/prepare the meals, which are served from 12pm until 1pm.

The door closes for cleaning at 1.30pm.
