Our wonderful Yasmin has been highly praised by former Councillor and Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen Iftikhar Hussain for her role in supporting the development of the Hungarian Welfare Association and, thereby, helping to facilitate the integration of the Hungarian Community within Blackburn with Darwen.
Mr. Hussain said:
“The support that Yasmin has given to the Hungarian Welfare Association has been superb, she has gone above and beyond, and we will be recommending Community CVS to everyone.”
Mr. Hussain was told about Mr. Gabor from the Hungarian Community in Blackburn with Darwen who was desperately trying to get together a support group for his community, many of whom faced language and integration barriers, poverty and isolation.
He wasn’t sure what to do so a friend introduced him to Mr. Hussain who then met and spoke to the group then referred them to Community CVS.
“After meeting Yasmin, we knew we were in good hands, she was absolutely brilliant in helping to set up the Hungarian Welfare Association, she helped complete all the paperwork, explained what was needed and helped Mr Gabor apply for a small grant to help with the launch event, which if successful will take place in October.”
All the people involved are truly thankful and this would never have been possible without the help of Community CVS and in particular Yasmin.
Mr Gabor who runs the Hungarian Welfare Association said:
“We could have not got our group up and running, if it hadn’t been for the wonderful support offered by Yasmin, we are looking forward to running regular groups at Ivy Street Community Centre where we can support our community – Yasmin has been wonderful.”
Our Communities Team work across Blackburn with Darwen to help new and existing groups to develop and to promote community-led solutions. If you’re looking to set up a group and would like assistance, please feel free to get in touch with us.
