Working in services designed to assist people in need, that’s a job for people high in empathy and concern for others.
As such, helping people in the throes of mental health crises, often presenting with suicidal ideation, can be traumatic – and the impact, regardless of the success of an intervention, can be a lasting one.
Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council’s Public Health team have recognised that there is a need to gauge the manner in which these encounters affect frontline staff, and to seek ways to ensure that they are supported and helped to deal with the after effects of these events.
To this end, they have teamed up with Blackburn with Darwen Community Network to address the needs of your frontline staff and volunteers – and we could really use your help.
We’re currently trying to learn more about what you’re doing to help your staff and how we can help support you to support them. We’ll be putting on a workshop (so stay tuned) but, first, we have a short questionnaire which we would be most grateful if you could fill out to help us understand your needs as an organisation.
