On Monday 23rd October, Mohammed Kathrada was invited to attend the Pavilion Community Hub & Café, Corporation Park. This afternoon meeting with the director from the Lancashire Community Helpers (CIC), Steven Ball.

The Lancashire Community Helpers have recently taken over The Pavilion to turn the building into a community hubs space and a community café. Steven, a retired builder by trade, currently spends most of his time renovating the building. The Pavilion community hub & café will be looking out for volunteer support for renovation support and to help run the community hub café.

The Community Hub will bring local community groups together by accessing the resource room space and the outdoor space within The Pavilion. The Lancashire Community Helpers (CIC) will also run a series of community initiative projects within the Corporation Park bringing the public and community groups together including children, young people, and families.

Mohammed Kathrada commented: “what a fantastic building with a lot of hidden history behind the building. Steven, Director of the organisation has been spending his own time and experience in the restoration of the inside of the building. It would be a great idea for any local community-constituted groups to get involved with the restoration, painting, and decorating supporting Steven. I would also encourage support from any catering business with unwanted kitchen materials and utensils to help restore the kitchen area within the building.
