Blackburn with Darwen Healthy Living is celebrating today after being awarded 3-year funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

Blackburn with Darwen Healthy Living will use their funding to address Fuel Debt in the borough and the project will be called Bill Busters. In light of recent living cost and gas and electricity rising drastically in most cases more than double, we will support residents living in fuel debt, with a holistic approach with partners from the borough.

We will also re-establish the Affordable Warmth Forum with BwD Council and the community to help create a sustainable offer of support for residents in fuel debt and poverty. The funding will make a big difference to people’s lives. We know that cold homes can lead to ill health for people of all ages, exacerbating the health inequalities which many of our residents already face.

This new National Lottery funding will start from the 01st April 2022. Residents can self-refer or be referred in by services. This can be done over the phone or by completing a simple form and sending it into our office electronically or by post.
