National Volunteers’ Week is coming up in June – and here is what we have coming up in Blackburn with Darwen and Preston to celebrate all things volunteering.

Tuesday 3rd June – Blackburn Volunteer Fair

On Tuesday 3rd June, we’re playing host to a range of brilliant organisations from across Blackburn with Darwen for our Volunteer Fair at the Boulevard Centre.

This is a fabulous opportunity for prospective volunteers to come along and find out about the range of opportunities that are available in the local area.

The Fair is taking place between 10am and 2pm.

Wednesday 4th June – Preston Volunteers & LACVS LOCAL Funding Fair for Central Lancashire

Preston Volunteers have teamed up with LACVS’ wonderful LOCAL project to provide a Funding Fair for delegates from groups and organisations in Central Lancashire. This event will take place from 10.30am on Wednesday 4th June at One Co Work on Winckley Square. There will be some eighteen funders present.

The Funding Fair is a marketplace in which to meet funders in person to explore different funding opportunities; to ask for help and advice on project ideas, funding bids and meeting the criteria of funds with pointers on writing a good funding bid.

Wednesday 4th June – Big Thank You

We’re proud to have teamed up with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Chip In and Lancashire Volunteer Partnership to offer a special event to celebrate the immense positive contributions made by volunteers in our communities and say a Big Thank You.

The event is taking place outside Blackburn Town Hall this Wednesday from 10am to 2pm.

Thursday 5th June – Preston Volunteers Step into Volunteering Fair

Preston Volunteers‘ Step into Volunteering Fair will take place on Thursday 5th June between 1 and 4pm and offers prospective volunteers the chance to come along and find out about volunteers roles, volunteer-involving organisations and projects in Preston.

Unfortunately, this is now fully booked.

Friday 6th June – Preston Volunteer Coordinators’ Forum

We’re also keen to celebrate the contributions of volunteer managers, the unsung heroes of many organisations, at our Preston Volunteer Coordinators’ Forum, which is taking place on Friday 6th June between 10am and 12 noon. The Forum takes place at Preston Town Hall.

Friday 6th June – Preston Volunteers’ Big Celebration

This will be followed by The Big Celebration, between 1 and 3pm, which represents the culmination of Volunteers’ Week and enables organisations, groups and the Preston community at large to celebrate the vast contributions volunteers make to improving all of our lives in so many ways.

Sadly, this event is also now fully booked.

Friday 6th June – Community Volunteer Awards nominations open

Friday 6th June will also see the launch of the revamped nomination process for 2025’s Blackburn with Darwen Community Volunteer Awards. The Awards, which are handed out at a sumptuous celebration in November, represent the culmination of our year and give us an opportunity to laud the very best in volunteering and voluntarism in Blackburn with Darwen.
