Volunteer Passport

Community CVS Volunteer Passport is a basic volunteer induction programme open to people who wish to become volunteers and for those who are already volunteering in their community. It is particularly suitable for those wanting to volunteer in roles where volunteers  would be working on a one-to-one basis  with members of the community e.g. volunteer roles around older people, children, families, health, social care, vulnerable adults.

By taking part, volunteers will gain skills, confidence and feel prepared for volunteering.  Volunteers are given a skills portfolio to allow them to include evidence of training completion (including certificates for each module completed). This enables them to track development of skills and experiences  gained through volunteering to help with personal development, future employment or education.

The scheme is delivered by Community CVS, and recognised/supported by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Job Centre Plus, Blackburn College, Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group, and Bootstrap Enterprises.

There are 8 half day sessions, delivered over a period of 8 weeks. To achieve the passport, volunteers will need to attend at least 6 sessions and complete an additional  on-line Safeguarding module.

Sessions:

Limited places are available on a first come first served basis. There are 4 full passport training programmes that will be delivered each year at a variety of locations in Blackburn and Darwen. The programme is  free to any member of the public that wishes to consider volunteering but is not yet a volunteer. Volunteer-led groups who want to access the course for their volunteers but do not have the funding to pay for dedicated sessions for their group can also have up to 3 free places on our general passport programme. If you are a group or charity with employed staff and you would like your existing volunteer team to achieve the passport training, CVS will be able to arrange additional training sessions for your group, at a time and location to suit you, but these would not be free.
