BwDBC e-learning: Adverse Childhood Experiences

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council have developed a new e-learning course to help build awareness and understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and what can be done prevent and address them.

Is this course for me?

This course is relevant to all staff working in public services and is currently available to Blackburn with Darwen Council staff as well as Primary School and Nursery staff through the Virtual Learning Environments.  We hope to roll it out to community members and other partners very soon.

This course will be of interest to people who have attended a screening of the film Resilience but you do not need any previous knowledge of ACEs to undertake this learning.

What will I learn?

The course will: –

  • Introduce the concept of ACE’s and build awareness of ACE science
  • Promote the benefits and importance of being ACE aware and relevance to your own life or role
  • Empower you to start to take action to prevent and address ACEs
  • Provide an introduction to practical tools and techniques for preventing and addressing ACEs
  • Signpost to sources of further information, resources and support

The course can be accessed here. If you have any feedback or queries about the e-learning, or for a more detailed discussion, please contact Laura Wharton.
